NMCC Noteworthy News 3/31

Top o' the mornin' to ye!

Just checking in after what has been a not-so-wonderful week for yours truly--hope yours was better than mine!  I've been under the weather with terrible allergies, a sick kitty, end of quarter grading, and tech rehearsals for the musical! BLECH! I am trying to catch my breath (in between coughing) this weekend! 

In more upbeat news, I have updated our set list and added a few more rehearsal tracks to the drive.

• All rehearsal parts should now be loaded with the exception of LOOK TO THE RAINBOW which will be coming this week. 

• The music for HERE COMES THE SUN (all singers) & DEAR OLD IRELAND (small group from tenor/bass) will be distributed Monday night, and both will be shortened versions (see below)

• HOW ARE THINGS IN GLOCCA MORRA will be shortened and sung by a smaller group of singers SSATB

SOLO AUDITONS:

• We will have auditions for solos BEFORE rehearsal tmw night 3/31 & next Monday 4/7 at 6:00PM (HUMC). If you can't make it that early & want to be considered--please let me know!

• Songs w/solos: O America, Look to the Rainbow, Send Me a Song, Wearing of the Green (tenor/baritone), Dear Old Ireland (4-8 tenor/bass), All Through the Night (duet--any voicing)

REHEARSAL NOTES:

       CELTIC FANTASY MEDLEY

• we are ONLY doing song #3 which is "The Wearing of the Green". Those rehearsal tracks have been added. There is a beautiful tenor2/bari solo opportunity at the beginning of that.

      WHEN IRISH EYES ARE SMILING MEDLEY

• Wild Irish Rose as written

• Too-ra-loo: CUT measures 57 to beat 1 measure 72; sing pick-up "When"...measure 72 into measure 73

     LOOK TO THE RAINBOW

• solo opportunity at beginning

• CUT measures 45-60

• Check out the divisi on p13: Sop 1 (high A)--Sop 2 (C) & Alt 1 (A)---Alt 2 sing Ten 1 (D above middle C)--rest of tenors sing Ten 2 starting on middle C---Bass as normal

• Go back to SSAATTB 119 to end

      DEAR OL IRELAND

• small group from our tenor/basses will be featured--we need confident FUNNY performers, and at least a quartet to pull this off! 

• CUTS TBA---this song is very repetitive so we will just basically shorten it

CALENDAR UPDATES:

• We WILL have rehearsal on Easter Monday--4/21. It was originally not scheduled.

• We will NOT have rehearsal Saturday, 4/26.

• Soloists & small groups will rehearse Saturday, 5/3 9:30 AM at Hough HS

• Bailey's Glen performance is a shorter set list for Sunday, 5/4. Call time is 2:30--performance is 3-4PM (It's not too late to sign up!)

• We have final Celtic Journey rehearsals scheduled for Monday 5/12 & Thurs 5/15 at HUMC. 

• Celtic Journey Performances are Friday 5/16 at HUMC 7PM and Sunday 5/17 3PM at CIC

• Memorial Day performance this year is at the CAIN CTR on Monday, 5/26. Call time is 9:30 AM-performance at 10AM. (It's not too late to sign up!)

Time for me to get back to grading...see y'all Monday/tomorrow night at HUMC!
