Hello Singers, I hope this email finds you well. We are making great progress and am really starting to dig into the songs for our Holiday Concert "Swing into the Holidays."
A couple things to keep in mind
On Monday after warmups, I will be doing a quick voice placement screening with tenors and some altos and anyone else who is questioning their voice part. The rehearsal will continue to roll with our accompanist Sherry doing with some sectional work while I quickly do this. I feel this is very important so we are sure we have tenors/altos singing in the correct voice parts before we get any farther down the road.
Seating
I am aware that some of you are really locked into where you sit, however, I would like to please ask for some flexibility with this as I may need to move some of you around to further strengthen our sections, create better blend, etc. Thank you!
Please note that we will move rehearsal notes to Choruspondence page on our website as we get that up and running, as well as our Dropbox for rehearsal tracks and recordings. For this week, I have condensed notes and some recordings here within this email! The recording links just require clicking on the link to take you to the recording. More rehearsal tracks will be posted this coming week.
IF you have the time before Monday night, please try to review the following: (The link to a practice track is provided next to each song.
Sleigh Ride Media Player (jwpepper.com)
just needs more energy overall!
Altos p5 remember to sing "Yoo-hoo's" both times
Parts are a little "muddy" at m29
p6 Tenors/Basses don't be late on your entrance at m34
p9 mp at m63 is needed so we can crescendo!
p13 Tenors--sing in the treble octave if more comfortable; some of you are trying to sing the octave down which is too low!
second time through--bottom of p8 be ready to go to 2nd ending on p14
Deck the Hall (just 1 HALL!) Media Player (jwpepper.com)
At the beginning---Soprano sing Tenor 1; Alto sing Tenor 2; same thing occurs on p4 (don't sing "la" m 19); same ting on p6
p8 m56 Soprano 2 sing "la" C and then go to Tenor 1 C---then jump up to the Sop 2 C for "Deck the Hall" at end
p8 m56 Alto 2 sing "la" E and then go to BASS 1 F---then jump up to the Alto G for "Deck the Hall" and sing GGF!
p8 m56 Tenor follow Tenor 2 notes until "Deck the Hall" and then T1/T2 split
p8 m56 Bass follow Bass 2 notes to the end
everyone put more space in the "FA LA LA" every time! Open mouth tall!
Swingin' Saint Nick Media Player (jwpepper.com)
Helpful to take the words out on this one--sing on "doo"
Listen to the recording
Notice Soprano 2 divisi on p5, 10, & m82: would be lovely to have a few alto 1's join sop 2's for these moments!

Keep an eye on the syncopated rhythms
change all the T's in "little" to D's
"let your" becomes "letta your"
top of p3--breathe after "out" ("out" becomes an eighth note)
bottom of p3-breath after "miles" ("miles" becomes an eighth note); put an "h" in front of "away"
