

Who We Are
​Established in 2010, North Mecklenburg Community Chorus (NMCC), Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that encourages community participation and outreach through choral performances. We are comprised of singers from all backgrounds and singing abilities. From young adults to retirees and everyone in between, the Chorus is open to anyone who has a passion for singing!
If you enjoy performing in front of a live audience that includes members of your family, friends, and co-workers and if you love to sing songs ranging from Christmas to Broadway, then NMCC is the place for you! Our Mission
NMCC strives to cultivate an atmosphere that encourages friendship and camaraderie,promotes skills development and a continuous striving for musical and artistic excellence through focused and well-organized rehearsals, and
engages members to willingly participate in activities such as show production, marketing, and fundraising.


Our Artistic Director
Todd Barnhill, NMCC's Artistic Director, earned both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Vocal Performance from East Carolina University and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville respectively. In addition to NMCC, Todd is the choral director at South Charlotte Middle School and serves as the choral cadre which organizes professional development for the choral directors in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School district. Previously, he was the Artistic Director of the 100 member North Myrtle Beach All City Choir as well as the Music Director at Loris First Baptist Church. As a performer, Todd had both leading and supporting roles in many US opera companies. In competition, he was a three time winner of the district level of the Metropolitan Opera vocal competition and received encouragement awards at the regional level and won first place in the Orpheus International Vocal Competition.
Our Accompanist
Sherry Malia, NMCC's Chorus Accompanist, received her Bachelors of Music degree from Appalachian State University. In addition to serving as the accompanist for NMCC for over 12 years, Sherry enjoys playing for specialty concerts and working with young musicians. She served as the accompanist at Huntersville United Methodist Church for seven years and is still actively involved in the church choir.​
