Noteworthy News 8/27
Greetings to all! WOW what a fantastic first rehearsal we had on Monday night! You were truly the highlight of my not-so-great day and it was SO awesome to sing and laugh with so many eager-to-make-music humans! Word on the street is our enrollment is 90+! Woohoo!
REHEARSAL NOTES:
Here is the link to the vocal tracks for a few of the songs. More will be coming:
LISTENING is VERY IMPORTANT before singing along!
As we move forward, please review the following music & tracks to prepare for next week's rehearsal:
Fa La La La La
Love's Pure Light (remember the D stands for Descant, which will be Soprano 1; Soprano 2/Alto 1 will sing the regular Sop line)
Let's Have a Christmas Celebration (once you have the main refrain down, you should be good to go!)
The First Noel (sing as marked in your music)
Ding Dong, Merrily on High (remember to separate the eighth note runs please--add some h's)
Sleigh Ride
LISTEN to Ring Out, Ye Bells
To close this message, I just wanted to share the mutual grief we all seem to be feeling worldwide about losing our Dolly Parton. As I've been sharing with my students, it's not always about the great talent or records sold, but what that person has done to achieve an even greater impact as a humanitarian. I think we can all agree Dolly wasn't just an iconic music celebrity but she was a REAL person with a huge heart for humanity. She has touched countless lives, including mine. Her songs and stories will never leave us. She even said this about the value of singing in a choir:
“When you sing, you open your heart. And when people sing together, their hearts beat together.” — Dolly Parton
Let's all be a little more like Dolly. Have a great week!
