Noteworthy News 10/16
Hi there friends! I hope you've had a great week! Mine has been busy especially my Hough Chorus-world--we had our "Fall Harmony Fest & Fall Concert" yesterday so I'm pooped. Thankfully, all went well and the kids had fun. This is another "building" year for my program, full of new challenges. I am looking forward to a weekend of downtime as I feel on the verge of a cold, and I have no time for that!
We had a VERY productive rehearsal on Monday. If you missed it, please check in with a buddy or contact your section leader. We are at the point where writing notes and marking music are essential to our rehearsal process!
Attached is a link that I will update regularly now with this week's homework practice priorities. You will see the songs I would like you to spend more time on coded in GOLD, and if you only have time to spend on 1 song, it is double-highlighted! This week's top priority is The Hallelujah Chorus.
Again, here is the link for REHEARSAL TRACKS: Vocal tracks - Google Drive
Here is a fabulous, authentic recording of The Hallelujah Chorus by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Hallelujah Chorus, from Messiah | The Tabernacle Choir
Listen to their tall vowels and full resonance. Remember to listen to the recording before singing along! This tempo is BRIGHT! Then work with your track and adjust the speed of the recording if you need to. You can also adjust the speed of your rehearsal tracks by going up to the settings wheel in Google.
Don't forget to plan ahead for your concert black attire. Specifics can be found in one of my previous emails posted in the CHORUSPONDENCE part of our webpage. Thanks for taking this seriously!
I've had a few questions regarding the schedule for the CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA on Sunday, 11/29. I am waiting for specifics from the Charlotte Civic Orchestra but we WILL have an afternoon rehearsal at the Halton/CPCC before the evening performance. Stay tuned!
On Monday 10/26 those singing for the Veterans Day event will meet briefly BEFORE rehearsal--let's aim for 6:10 if you can get there!
Regular rehearsal will start as close to 6:30 as we can!
Have a super weekend & stay warm!
HEIDI
