Noteworthy News 3/16

Happy Sunday & pre-St. Paddy's Day greetings to you-all!  March "madness" is upon me with all things NEWSIES--(houghtheater.com ---show opens 3/26). On Tuesday night, Steve got what we thought was food poisoning. Then, as I was packing the car to leave for Virginia Friday noon, I suddenly got sick, too! Not a fun weekend, but thankful for the weekend and the chance to recuperate, and definitely happy that I'm slowly getting my sea legs back!

UPCOMING REHEARSALS: Stay tuned this week for an update on the remaining rehearsal schedule between now and the CAIN CTR on 4/23. Please note the rehearsal on Monday 3/30 will end early to accommodate the baby shower. Please refer to specific link: Maddie's AMAZON list for BABY SHOWER 3/23

PERFORMANCE ATTIRE for CAIN CTR, VETS PARK, & MEMORIAL DAY

  • WHITE dress shirt/blouse, (recommend short sleeves)

  • NAVY blue pants or skirts, (if a skirt--knee length or longer please; bare legs at your discretion)

  • FELLAS: solid red or navy necktie or bowties,

  • LADIES: American flag scarves (we are providing)

  • comfortable navy or black shoes (NOT sneakers, crocs, high heels, or flip-flops)

  • Hair should be pulled away from face (especially for Vets Park & potential wind!)

  • Jewelry & accessories are fine; no head pieces, hats, or bandanas please

TICKETS!  Don't forget to please help spread the word about our upcoming shows & get your seats for the CAIN: North Mecklenburg Community Chorus: Of Thee We Sing | Cain Center for the Arts

MUSIC NOTES:

  • PLEASE work with your rehearsal tracks! If everyone will spend a little time outside of rehearsal to work on notes, then we can start putting things together more quickly and efficiently.

  •  LINK FOR TRACKS

  • Registration is now closed for singers HOWEVER, we are still recruiting BASSES--especially those with experience. If you know someone, please have them contact me ASAP!

  • We are no longer singing "Long Ago & Far Away"--please turn in to Kaleena

  • We are also no longer singing: Simple Gifts, This is My Country, or Where Have all the Flowers Gone?--they may make a re-appearance next year as they have not been put in folders yet this season.

  • Still coming: O America, 50 Nifty United States, Lift Every Voice & Sing, & the Star Spangled Banner

  • AMERICANA JUBILEE: all tempos are way too fast; parts are coming

  • PETER PAUL & MARY: IF I HAD A HAMMER no 2nd verse--go to 2nd ending

  • Some folks have been asking about a small group---not for this season. We simply do not have the rehearsal time & we will be featuring the barbershop quartet at the CAIN CTR.

  • That's it for cuts for right now--stay tuned!

MONDAY rehearsal:

At the moment we are still scheduled for regular rehearsal tomorrow night Mon 3/16 at HUMC, HOWEVER, please be weather aware. !

We do have some potentially bad stuff moving in tonight and tomorrow. The rain has already started up here in Troutman. Stay tuned for updates.

BE SAFE---

Hope to see you tomorrow!

HEIDI
