CONGRATULATIONS!
What a beautiful night! So honored and humbled by your performance last night.
Everything was truly fantastic and meaningful to so many on both sides of the stage. The messages and kudos brought on happy tears this morning. One conversation last night: "Music is what keeps me going and YOUR singers and music makes me realize that I cannot live without it!"Another person said, "How great it was to celebrate America together---I couldn't stop singing along and kept apologizing to my seatmates until I realized they were singing too!"Another message---this music helped me reflect and find hope through the darkness I've been going through."And from one of you on the stage, "I've got the joy back in my heart again---and it's because of everyone on the stage tonight." WOW!!!! Your camaraderie with one another and your love for singing is more than evident, dear friends. I appreciate each of you more than you realize. Just like my eager students, quite a few of you stopped me backstage begging for my acknowledgment: "Did we do ok?Did we do what you wanted? You didn't cry--is that a bad thing? Were our vowels better?"Oh my goodness y'all--I had to fight back tears more than once last night. You sang with big hearts and strong voices; you should be very happy and proud.
After my 2 week whirlwind involving many rehearsals, last weekend's show choir state championship, teaching, and NMCC, I have my feet up today and am enjoying the sunshine at home. Before we move on, I want to shout out and again thank EVERYone who pitched in and played a role in creating such a special evening at the CAIN Center. From the sandwiches to the lovely Patriotic decor to our outstanding musicians, Barbershop quartet, and 2 very brave Boy Scouts---thank you and BRAVO!
Next up is our fun performance on Sunday afternoon. I am really excited about the opportunity to perform this music in a public, outdoor, park. My favorite sound engineer, Jeff from Sound Amazing, will mix us using some incredible equipment. We will be on the risers on the stage, not on the steps. For the concert, we will basically repeat the same set, minus our barbershoppers---weren't they fantastic? We WILL have a color guard from Hough HS Army JROTC presenting the colors. We will also proceed without an intermission. In Act 2, we will have two special featured soloists step in for "Tonight" and "What a Wonderful World"--otherwise the set list will remain the same.
SUNDAY 4/26 Huntersville Veterans Park
PARKING: There is public parking at Discovery Place and next to the Park. Please do NOT park at Mama Mia's or other nearby restaurants OR on the street next to the Park.
ATTIRE: Same as CAIN CTR, however, it will be warm. We will be under the stage so no need for hats. Ladies, please consider having your hair up and out of your face due to breezy & warm conditions. With the scarves...lower loop and not around your neck.
